Dillon Floral - Next Greenhouse to install CHALLENGER® Biomass Combustion System

Dillon Floral Corporation will be the next greenhouse to install a CHALLENGER® Biomass Combustion System. The system will include CHALLENGER® CCUE407-S “Steam” Model with 6MM BTU Output, 150 PSI Steam Boiler, Extended Combustion Zone, Auto De-Ash and PCC Controls. Also included is a 36” Disc Separator, along with 50 cubic yard Storage Bin with Material Handling Conveyors to the Bin.

Dillon Floral has been in operation since 1875 and currently in its fourth generation of ownership. After all these years, Dillon continues to adhere to the principle of providing the highest standard of quality and service that the company was originally founded on. This system will allow Dillon to achieve this by eliminating/reducing its current heating costs and labor costs.

In an interview with Press Enterprise, Bloomsburg, PA , Dillon President Rob Dillon says, “The company expects to slash its annual heating bill from $200,000 to $70,000.” 1

“The savings will help preserve 28 jobs here that had been threatened by competition from flower growers in , South America .” "Without making these changes, jobs would have been lost," Dillon explained.1

In 2003, Dillon Floral, once Pennsylvania 's largest rose producer, stopped growing the flower because foreign competition had made it unprofitable.1

“The biggest expenses for greenhouse growers are energy and labor costs,” Dillon explained.1

This project is scheduled for startup in early 2007.

Local Health Center receives grant funds
to install CHALLENGER® Biomass Combustion System

Elk Regional Health Center (ERHC), located in St. Marys, PA , was recently awarded $500,000 in State grant funds to be applied towards the installation of their proposed CHALLENGER® Biomass Combustion System.

The system will include a CHALLENGER®

CCUE612-S “Steam” Model with 15MM BTU Output, Extended Combustion Zone, Auto De-Ash and PCC Controls. Also included is a 450 HP Steam Boiler, of 150 psig design, and Dual Truck Unloading System

with Transfer Conveyors.

This particular system will operate 24 hours/day,

7 days/week, 365 days/year to provide Steam to heat and cool Health Center facilities, as well as aid in sterilization processes.

Fuel will consist of everything from whole tree chips to sawdust with 30-50% moisture content.

Installation of the system is projected for the Summer of 2007.

ERHC also received a low interest loan from USDA Rural Development.

Update on Clearfield Area School District

In May 2006, Clearfield Area School District (CASD) awarded Advanced Recycling Equipment, Inc. (ARE) with the bid for the installation of its New Biomass Boiler Project. This project is made possible through $600,000 in federal grant funds awarded to Clearfield Area School District through a Renewable Energy grant.

This project includes a CHALLENGER® CCUE410-S “Steam” Thermal Combustion Unit with Extended Combustion, Auto De-Ash and PCC Controls. Also included in the system is a 250HP Steam Boiler System with a Soot Blower Package, along with a 35 cubic yard Live Auger Bottom Storage with Transfer Augers to the Combustion Unit and Hydraulic Package for Walking Floor Trailers.

The installation of these components will allow CASD to replace its Middle School’s aged oil-fired steam boiler with Advanced Recycling Equipment, Inc.’s CHALLENGER® CCUE410-S “Steam” Thermal Combustion System. CASD will leave another existing steam boiler in place as a backup.

Currently, the job site is under construction, being prepared for the installation of the CHALLENGER® Combustion Unit and accompanying components. Installation is awaiting plan approval from PA Department of Environmental Protection.

Startup and commissioning of the system is tentatively scheduled for early 2007.
