APPLICATION:
 
This CHALLENGER® CCUE403-A "Warm Air" Thermal Combustion Unit provides Warm Air for Plant Heat and Hot Oil to Press Operations.
 
The system is equipped with PCC Controls, Extended Combustion Zone and Auto De-Ash. Also included in the system is Dust Collection and a 50 cubic yard Live Bottom Storage Bin.
 
With PCC Controls, the system will automatically maintain the desired oil temperature within 3 to 5 degrees of the customer's set point, while providing warm air for plant heat. Fuel feed motors, combustion fans and induced draft fan all run on variable frequency drives to ensure the proper mix of combustion air to fuel. The unit wll adjust itself automatically according to its load demand.
 
The Extended Combustion Zone increases dwell time to 1.5 seconds for the combustion of any unwanted particulates and emissions before they are able to enter the heat recovery unit, making the process much cleaner, which reduces maintenance time and costs.
 
CHALLENGER®'s advanced Auto De-Ash System eliminates downtime and labor costs by removing ash from the system automatically. With its hands-free operation, It is also much safer.
 
The Dust Collection System moves the material from the plant into a 50 cubic yard Storage Bin. It is then fed automatically into the combustion unit.
The Storage Unit is a steel-structured bin with live augers moving the fuel from the unit to the transfer auger. The live augers help to mix dry and wet material, making a more consistent fuel.
 
The combustion unit itself, like all CHALLENGER® Combustion Units is equipped with high temperature cast refractory ceramic lining for longer life. This cast refractory/ceramic lining was designed to be completely modular, which makes for easy repair and replacement.
 
FUEL SOURCE:
 
This CHALLENGER® Thermal Combustion System burns MDF, particle board, and hardwood and softwood sawdust from the customer's current waste stream. The fuel is typically less than 10% moisture content. It is taken directly from dust collection and stored in a 50 cubic yard Live Bottom Storage Bin.
  
SAVINGS:
 
The installation of this CHALLENGER® Thermal Combustion System has allowed the customer to use their waste product as a fuel source, eliminating waste disposal costs. It has also allowed the customer to eliminate costly heating bills.
