This CHALLENGER® CCUE404-A "Warm Air" Thermal Combustion System provides thermal recovery for plant heat, to Advanced Recycling Equipment's manufacturing and test facility, and research and development.
The system is equipped with PCC Controls, Extended Combustion and Auto De-Ash. The system also includes a 25 cubic yard storage bin.
The PCC Control System is one of the most advanced systems available for biomass combustion on the market today. The Control Panel is fully automated and continually monitored via Programmable Logic Controller. The air flows and fuel feed rates are constantly and automatically adjusted by way of variable frequency drives to ensure a hot water or, in this case, warm air temperature that is maintained within 3 to 5 degrees of the desired set point. Fuel feed motors, combustion fans, and the induced draft fan all run on variable frequency drives to ensure the proper mix of combustion air to fuel. The unit adjusts itself automatically according to load demand. The system can also operate on "Maximum Fuel Consumption" Mode to utilize the capabilities of the burner and combust as much fuel as possible. All controls and monitoring of the system are accessed via 10-inch colored touch screen located on the front of the main control panel.
The Extended Combustion Zone increases dwell time to 1.5 seconds for the combustion of any unwanted particulates and emissions before they are able to exit the system, making the process much cleaner, which reduces maintenance time and costs.
CHALLENGER®'s advanced Auto De-Ash System eliminates downtime and labor costs by removing ash from the system automatically. It's hands-free operation is also much safer.
The combustion unit itself, like all CHALLENGER® Combustion Units is equipped with high temperature cast refractory ceramic lining for longer life. This cast refractory/ceramic lining was designed to be completely modular, which makes for easy repair and replacement.
For its routine operations, this CHALLENGER® Thermal Combustion System burns wet sawdust from several local sawmills. The system is also used to burn other various fuels for research and development and customer test burns.
The installation of this CHALLENGER® Thermal Combustion System has allowed Advanced Recycling Equipment to eliminate otherwise costly gas bills to heat their manufacturing facility.
